Sudden uncontrollable revs

The intercooler is at the top of the engine on both my 150ps and 204ps.

Got a pic of your engine bay?

Had it happen on an old A4, very dangerous situation drag racing in the city centre, lane switching to avoid collisions while changing up and trying to find the hazard light switch. Luckily it was in Plymouth and that’s fairly normal behaviour plus a smoke screen to cover my reg plate:grin bounce:
I hadn’t drained the oil carry over from the lower intercooler hose for about 20K miles, previously I drained it with every oil change.
I fitted a separator pot between the PCV and induction, this highlighted how much oil was passing, however as the crankcase pressure was still normal I realised that there’s an issue with the PCV.
I found that the rubber diaphragm in the PCV had deteriorated and was no longer doing it’s job.
I replaced the PCV (whole cam cover on this car) and the oil consumption stopped, no more oil in the separator.

I always thought a Transporter unlike the A4 in theory the throttle valve should close starving the engine of air?
