Trying to check continuity for the Green/yellow wire between the battery -ve 2 pin connector and the Alternator. Where do i find the connector at the alternator.
See pic from Haynes digital manual.

Connector is on the right side of the alternator as you look under the bonnet. At black plastic side.

What error are you getting?

Should be fine to get too from underneath.
Whilst you are there it’s also wise to check inside the loom by the oil filter as this is where the wire usually break.

I knew it was a common issue but didnt know at what point it normaly fails. Ta. Will give it a look over.

There's history in the T6 form chat for this fault and some good pictures showing exactly where the loom wire breaks....because it's badly designed and too tight.

Found the post with the pictures but do t know how to link it so that you can see it ???

i had a look at a few of the posts, couldnt find the pictures.

Hope it fixes your problem. Cost me more than £600 at a garage who insisted it was alternator at fault so I had to get a new one. Which after showing them the 'solution' as found on this great Forum, they did find the broken cable , fixed the fault but wouldn't replace the alternator back !!! So as it is, I currently have a perfectly good alternator in my garage ...

On my 67 plate the linbus g/yellow wire had turned into a green paste, where the copper should be had turned into copper sulphate with the insulation still intact, pulling the wire lengthwise tells you what's happened.
This was within the harness inside the split black PVC corrugated conduit along the bottom of the bumper, basically where all the road crud would be.
I didn't find this out but the main dealer Vindis did and made a nice little motivational video showing just why you should buy VW and gave my wallet a modest spanking too. 🤕
The van was less than 5yrs old at the time.

Brilliant feedback video. Should be a VW recall but guess that's just wishing. Same happened on my 66 plate VW along with a few other T6 Forum members

I checked along the split tubing and all looks well here. So need to find the other end of the cable to check continuity.

I believe it goes back to the "E Box" in the Engine Bay, Can't really make out the plug numbers on your picture, but had a quick look at some similar and that's where they go to.

Talking to the young lad who found my rotted wire and he just peeled open that black corrugated flexible conduit that goes along at the bottom and rear of the front bumper left to right.
Separated the individual cables in this small loom and gave the g/yellow in particular a pull through it's length much like you would trying to find the broken inner string on a clothes line.
The repair was a new piece of cable spliced in and soldered then taped over, the original insulation on the g/yellow in particular must have been made with icing sugar. 🤔

i did the same, but the wire seems fine. didnt want to pull to hard, but enough pressure if it had brken in two.
