Speaker adaptors

Hi all, I need some help with upgrading my rear speakers in my Shuttle.
The wiring was already there and the speakers have gone due to ply/carpet being fitted.
The new speakers sound terrible but I'm guessing it's due to my connections so I bought some adaptors.
The adaptors are shown in the pic but when I researched how to wire it up before they look like the other pic with the loopy wires.
Are my adaptors the wrong ones and if so what needs to go where please?
TIA.

Have you got polarity the correct way round and what speakers are they and what headunit are you running?

I'm not sure on polarity as they can only be connected one way due to the connector shape. Headunit is original Shuttle SE unit without sat nav, not sure on the model.

And sorry, just cheap Pioneer speakers to replace what was there before.

Ok buddy polarity should be correct with those adapters. You can try linking 1&2 together and 3&4 together. I usually use the connect2 ones shouldn't make any difference. Have you tried playing with the balance and EQ etc? Is there any sound deadening behind the speakers?

Try linking them like @Dav-Tec suggests. Just bare some wire on the 2 reds and wrap some copper wire around the exposed wire. Same for black. Tape it up and test.

Thanks. I'm thinking as they're connected it shouldn't make a difference so I'll see how I get on. There is sound deadening but even with the speakers out in my hand the sound is either really quiet or really distorted.

No it's coloured, original wiring and into the adaptors and also a tweeter, similar to the cab area speaker set-up but just in the rear panels.
