Try deflating the tyre and seeing if it will fit uninflated. You can always carry a compressor and inflate the tyre if you ever need to use the spare.

Hey there, where did you get the extended bushes from in the end? and did you use longer bolts?

I think I ordered it from ebay, didn't use it in the end as it wasn't as substancial as the OEM. I think i did get the longer bolt from VW
