Spare wheel carrier rusted bolts

Hi anyone else had problems releasing bolts on spare wheel carrier. Mine were sized solid and the retaining part came away leaving the bolts to rotate ie couldn't remove and had to cut through bolts. Not much fun at side of road .
Anyone replaced the bolts etc ?

I've had to use wd40 numerous times to free the bolt up.

So far the bolts held and I've not busted the retaining nut.

Got any pics of yours?

Are we saying you need a new nut welded on?

An often neglected item that should be checked every service - is the spare wheel in good nick, and can it be removed easily. But I’ve never known a dealer do that.

This has happened to me. Can i ask how you resolved it. Did you get someone to weld a new nut to the top of the frame or but a kit to do a fix yourself

Making a mental note to go and spray some penetrating oil on there tomorrow. Have never tried to open mine in the 30months since purchase.
Hope you get it easily sorted.

Having same issue. Interested to know if there is a fix/solution before I cut the bolt and have to find a welder.

You can buy the bracket part with the two captive nuts on. I did post a link when this came up recently. It still needs cutting off (drill/angle grinder) and a few spot welds to fit the new one though. Still with new bolts you're back in business. Removing the spare to check it properly is part of a full service. When I was in the trade I always did it and lubed it up, otherwise your valued customer is going to end up cursing your bones on some wet and dark motorway!

Edit- Some links.
There are two types of bracket listed.
