The rear load matt contours the floor ribs etc.. it is possible to deaden the floor but you may not notice any difference. Imo the vw rubber matt is pretty good as a standard.
If your intending a on an ICE install then maybe..
Rear wheel arches are a must! Inside(if unseen/lined) or out.

Ok thanks ,thats one less job i have to do then!
I have just done mine with 4mm Silent Coat (already done all the side panels and roof with 2mm ) and it has certainly made a difference but not a massive one but i have toned down the road rumble. Im now going to cover the ceiling and side panels with fabric and the wheel arches with carpet which i think will make quite a difference to noise level over the plain ply panels as fabric with absorb noise much better. Ill let you know once the next stage is done
