Sound deadening the front doors

Afternoon :)

I've a big pile of toys to go in the van and am heading to classic acoustics tomorrow for lots of deadening and foams.

Everything else looks easy enough but wondering what to do with the doors when fitting the new speakers. . Classic acoustics reccomend deadening material on the outer skin and a 10mm foam attached to that. Nowt more. Seen other approaches that have also deadend around where the new speakers are fitted. Literally covering the hole then cutting it and pushing the new speakers through. Also deadening the door cards.

I can grab a few more sheets tomorrow and do the whole lot, seams alot mind. Not sure what the best approach is?

What have others done?
Cheers!
Si

We never do the outer skin, as you have to remove all the anti corrosion properties, then add sound deadening and foam which will attract a lot of water which can lead to issues, we have seen it happen, it will also eventually fall off and get trapped in the window mech, end up at the bottom of the door.

Just do the inner door skins and door plastics, this makes a great difference .

I was leaning towards this approach to be fair. If nothing else, it's less dismantling of the door.

Is it worth doin the front wheel arches? I'm gonna have the cab floor up as well so figured I might as well?

@Absolut5 5 years on is still the case?

Thanks

We do behind the speaker , but stand by what we mentioned before. Seen so many where it’s fallen off and festers at the bottom of the door , even in the summer they are still wet
Thanks!
