Soooo Close...

My dealer just told me my Kombi's due with them on Tuesday, and I could have it by Friday next week - if i can get the insurance sorted and documentation to the dealer in time.

My first truck, so mega-excitement building! (and mod ideas forming in my head)

Only 2 months from order to delivery - quicker than expected.

So... help needed with insurance please - any tips? Need business cover. (And preferably one that emails the documentation)

Good news @MotoPL Vw do free insurance cover for the first 2 weeks i think to get you on he road.

Hadn't spotted that in the brochure - and the dealer never mentioned it.

"Complimentary 5-day insurance cover to allow you to drive your vehicle away."

Not 2 weeks, but at least it should allow it to be taxed, should I have my insurance sorted, but with the paperwork being stuck in the postal system somewhere.

Guess I'll bring it to his attention when he gives me the reg no. on Monday

Must admit to being a little suspicious - supposed to be a MY18, but the speed of delivery makes me worried it's an old forgotten about one that someone just found, that had been sat in storage for months

When did you get told it would be an MY18?

I ordered in April, haven't been told anything about MY18 but mines not even being built until August now

When I ordered mid-May, dealer implied anything built after June (from memory) would be MY18 spec. Same time as the price rise came into effect.
(Just what i was told, so don't shoot the messenger!)

I don't understand the delays some people seem to have, which is why i'm a littler suspicious/nervous about mine coming so soon
Timeline so far...
Ordered around 20th May
Told mid-June that it was going into build last week of June, to arrive here end of July.
Told today, its arriving on Tuesday (18th - so even the last stage was quicker than anticipated)

What have you ordered? Maybe what I ordered is common as muck so they're flying off the production line?

Did you specify much different from standard?
What colour have you gone for?

I ordered an oryx white kombi, highline, double passenger seat and 2+1 rear.

As it was a factory order I then spec'd debadging.

Other than that everything else it's getting is aftermarket

I don't know much about how VW work, but only thing I can think of is they do the builds in colour batches?
Maybe your order just missed the last Oryx build, whereas I just made the next Starlight build? Clutching at straws really.

If it's any consolation, I was told when I ordered in May that it would be 3-4 months, (so probably a '67 plate delivery in September) which kind of fits in with the time frame you're experiencing

Increasingly nervous after this conversation that the spec will be totally wrong when it arrives! (probably find they deliver a Caddy)

Watch this space I guess...

I ordered a week or so before Chris is exactly the same spec and colour and mines here on Monday
