Hi all. My mot is up and I've found out my brake lights don't work apart from the barn door brake lights. Checked fuses and bulbs and all fine. I know nothing about electrics so am totally confused about it. Anyone else had this problem ? Also, could a wire be taken from the barn door brake lights to the other brake lights ? Many thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have brake lights left of barn door, right of barn door and the high level centre brake lights.
It might be easier if you tell us exactly what isn't working.

Hi David. No. I have no brake lights left or right of barn doors but I do have the high level brake lights.

So you have the third brake-light only (yes, it’s in two parts I know).

Change your brake light bulbs on either side of your vehicle.
Even if they look okay.

Thanks Robert. I will try that tomorrow. I would have thought the high level brake light is on same circuit so can't understand how that's working but not the others. The bulb filaments look fine but worth a try changing them.

Good call @Robert always worth a try, and imagine how you'd feel to pull the van apart chasing a problem just to find out it needed a quids worth of Bulbs?!

Problem sorted. There was a bare cable which was shorting again the van. Got a feeling it happened when I carpet lined the van and nicked a wire when drilling through the lined panel for the lugs.
