Some advice please

I had my T6.1 delivered on the 15th May with 3 months warranty and have not used it much until this week. I'm getting over filled oil and constant emergency call workshop warnings. I believe these should have had a software update when serviced. The service readout says 5 NTG standard sevices from August 2021 to September 2024. What is the best way to go about contacting the seller company and getting the problem sorted. Unfortunately they are 75 miles away so can't just drop in.
Thanks

Phone or email them?

BTW, the Consumer Rights Act in effect gives you a comprehensive 6 month warranty (any faults within that time are legally presumed to have been either present or developing at the time of sale and fall to the seller to remedy) so to fob you off with a 3 month warranty shows their contempt for you as a customer.

They're saying they will fit a new battery as that may be the problem, it has struggled a bit after being left a day or two. Thay will clear the codes, assess it and see how that goes. We will see.

Have you actually dipped the oil to see what the level really is?

I have, it's about a 1/4inch below the top notch.
I had to reduce the oil level to halfway between min and max on the dipstick to get rid of my 'over filled' warning.

Thanks for the info Bav, appreciated might just need reducing. Would be a simple cure if they altered the dipstick but when were those people ever sensible.
I looked at a YT video about the oil and after going back and forth with VW it needed an update. I won't touch it before they look at it. I did have problems with faults coming up on my Relay and a new battery cured it immediately so I am hoping.

Have a wee look at this video, sorted mine -

In fact, I’m due an oil service in a week and dreading them filing it to just under max again and having to suck more out.

Resuming where I left off. The dealer has fitted a new starter battery in August and drained some oil out. They cleared fault codes. On the way home got the oil and assist warnings again. They then ordered a new oil sensor but the assist battery was back order. I said wait until both are in so on the 8th October I took it in again(150m round trip) and they said it was done and tested last Friday 17th. Said Fitted oil sensor and reduced the oil level as it may be caused by expanding when hot.Get to yesterday and the oil reduce level came on again. I had told them opening the bonnet clears it for approx 100 miles and that's about what I've done since the dealers. The oil is about 3/4 up the end of the dipstick. Before I took it in I spoke to Citizens advice who were a bit vague but did say I had 6 months from delivery. Just fed up as want it sorted and don't fancy yet another 150 miles trip there. Thanks for any advice.

Aye, any higher than halfway and mine starts lying through its teeth.

Im happy im not suffering any oil dilution and the level remains rock steady, so,I just ignore the occasional warning.

There is apparently a software fix but feedback is that it doesnt always do the trick anyway, so knowing that there isn't actually anything physically wrong I just live with it. Neither I or any local spanner jockey can do much about a design flaw.

Before all else though be sure you've set the level or no more than half way and that it isnt rising. It is, thankfully, fairly rare but its not unknown so watch that level like a hawk until youre sure.

Thanks Bav and Sas. Definitely not getting higher as I've been checking it regularly. Will a litre be enough a litre is enough, not sure about that bit. There is no min or max on my dipstick just a notch at the top and the rest knurled. You'd think VW would have issued replacements showing the correct level but on second thoughts it's VW.
Thanks again:)

Does yours not look something like this?

The grooves denote max and min.

This pic shows the perfect oil level.

IIRC its something like 700cc difference between max and min so you should only need to siphon out a wee bit to bring it down.

Will it tell me if it's too low?
Always best just to recheck the dipstick.

I suspect the oil-pressure light will only illuminate if the oil level is very low - i.e. below min - though this is merely conjecture and, for obvious reasons, not a theory I'd be willing to prove.
