Sold my van

Sorry I haven't been on here much lately, things have been going on.

My wife and I have come to the realisation that our Leisuredrive Vivante was no longer fulfilling our campervan needs. We are getting older and the grandchildren are getting bigger. Space in the van is tight and it's getting a pain to keep converting from seats to beds and back again.

So we went looking at bigger options and found one to our liking. It has several things the T6 can't offer, a fixed double bedroom, second proper double bed that lifts away into the roof in seconds, indoor shower with hot water, all sorts of stuff.

This of course means that we have quite a bit of equipment that is no longer of any use to us such as a driveaway awning and various accessories we have acquired along the way. These will make their way onto the Things for Sale section as and when we get organised.

I do plan to look in frequently to see what people are up to, but sadly won't really have a lot to contibute any more.

Thank you to all of you who have given me excellent advice and friendship during my time here, you are all truly a great bunch of people.

Martinw.

Sad to see you go Martin, but having done the same route, I completely understand. Good luck with the new van

It's a Carado, Ford based though but I'm getting used to it...

Best of luck with it. I went the other way, from a modest Eldiss motorhome to a camper but my own family is shrinking as the kids have moved out and my grandkids aren't interested in hanging out with the olds.

Don't be a stranger, let us know how you new adventures are going.

I think this is a journey many of us will take. I’m sure we’ll have a decision point in the next 4 or 5 years.
I'd struggle to park anything much bigger than a LWB on the driveway. Do they make motorhomes that small? 🤔

We have been looking into alternatives with bed + lounge area and on board facilities. Nothing really had the wow factor of a good looking t6 though until we came across the 4x4 sprinters on the market, the hymer grand canyon s, is a great example, fantastic looking inside and out, £150k though, so we will have the vw for a while yet (+ toilet tent!)

Yes, they he Grand Canyon s600, only about half a metre longer than a LWB t6 but has permanent bed and toilet/shower.

It’s a crossways bed though so you may need the 7m s700 judging by your avatar 🫣

That was a factor in my own decision to downsize. The new gaff has ample parking, but a narrow 90 degree bend to access the drive was making me sweat in the Elddis with an extra metre length ane a dollop more width.

But thats me and my situation. The OPs needs are different to mine so all power to him.

I'm not sure when our Transporter wouldn't be enough as we've been on so many sites where the larger motorhomes are there before we rock up and still there when we leave, the only way you know they're occupied is when the previously unseen owner does the walk of shame with his barrel of Lucozade.
We're probably farts in a colander but with just the two of us after a few days at a site we're ready to move, no taking down acres of rip stop nylon, just turn the front seat back around the right way, lower the roof, dismantle our poled awning and drive over the washing bowl... again...🤕 but it works for us. :geek:
Factor in inter Transporter rivalry on the motorway which the lardy motorhomes and wobble boxes can never carry off, the waving at other Transporters, the parking in car spots, sneaking under 2m height barriers so many reasons to holiday lite!
