Hi all , Im going to install a Planar diesel night heater , not sure about battery drain on starting these things up , I have a 100ah leisure batt which runs my lighting and a small pump for tap water but no charging system in place yet I just charge at home when needed.
If I install a solar panel would it be enough to run the heater as well for a few days of grid
any advice would be appreciated as Im not that clear on charging, amps, and stuff
Cheers

solar alone will not provide the ah return you need especially at this time of year

Do you need a auxiliary battery to run a night heater ?

Hmmm how long do you think Ill get out of 100 ah batt using a night heater before it needs a charge ?

Eli 1264 yes youll need a leisure battery as well as van battery but im not so clued up

Definitely not at this time of year, solar performance is very poor between October and May. You should get a couple of nights on your battery before you need to re charge it. The money would be better spent on a DC-DC charger to keep things going.
