Solar Panel fail

They quoted me on a Photonic Universe 350w mcs certified semi flexable solar panel at £450.00 and a Victron MPPT 100/30 at £110. Fitted without cost to me. Total cost £560. Not counting 4 journies from Nottingham to Derby to drop the van off and then go back next day to collect. I have allowed a few quid for unexpected costs and rounded it up.
However, I have no intention of taking this up, I have a sytem that is almost new with a Victron hppt 100/20 control box. The only thing that has failed is the panel.I don't want to retrace my path a 3rd time with a flexi bonded panel. I want to go rigid.
The 100/20 will be good up to a 300 watt panel. I have the 100/20 on my 270 watt. On a couple of occasions this summer it topped out at 274 watts, exactly 20a.
I did get a 100/30 to get a few extra watts, but it was too big to neatly install where I wanted it. That one is now with a beloved lucky(!) member in sunny Benidorm.

I'm always blowing off but generally stand up on the pedals out of respect for the Simora fabric, regarding flexy panels, again DIY and save while becoming an expert.

As I run a Solar PV, Battery Storage & EV charger company, I feel I’m in a good position to advise on this.

Solar Evolution (GBR) Ltd if anyone would like a design proposal 😎👍

I have a touring caravan, which come fitted with a 50w solar panel that achieved almost nothing.

Me being me, i had a rummage around in the company lockup and found a full size Trina Solar 445w rigid solar panel (1762 x 1134mm) with white back sheet, I attached the panel to the caravan roof with the correct silages adhesive and a set of 6 white plastic mounting brackets from eBay, first I attached the brackets to the panel, lined the panel up on the roof, applied tape around the contact areas, allowing 5mm for the adhesive to squish and be dressed.
Rough the contact areas on the caravan roof and on the mounting bracket contact areas, to ensure the adhesive can do its job.

I fitted a victron 150/35 MPPT along with a bictron 12/1200 inverter and a Roamer 160Ah Smart 4 to handle and process the power.

Even on overcast days like today, the battery it topped up from any use, because of the somewhat over sized solar panel, I could have fitted a much smaller MPPT, though with the inverter boiling kettles multiple times per day, the bigger MPPT does get to stretch its legs every now and then.

When I eventually get around to it, the T6 will be fitted with a full sized rigid solar at some point too.

For reference, full sized rigid solar panels come with a 25-30 year product warranty, and a 25-30 year performance warranty, with an expected life expectancy of 50-60 years.

I also have a load of part pallets of panels available for sale if any of you wanted to fit a proper panel?
Collection from south Derbyshire only.

I also have trade accounts with Roamer, Renogy, Sargent and Victron, so if anyone would like some prices drop me a message.
Thank you, I am certainly looking for a rigid panel to replace the failed flexi and would be happy to have a run up and chat with you to see what you got after the holidays, can I ask where in South Derbyshire, I live just South of Nottingham, a ex mining village jyst off the side of the A46 about 20 mins from Liecs. If that sounds do-able I would appreciate it if we could arrange something in the new year.

But it’s not working very well as the bloody solar panel is somewhere on a Spanish motorway.😂😂😂

Hi peeps, so - where do I go to buy a decent quality rigid solar panel around a 300w. I have seen a bloke on E Bay but he has received quite a few dodgy reviews which make me not inclined to go there. Can anyone put ne onto a reliable brand/supplier of solar panels - I don't want to waste more money and time on poor quality foriegn imports.
Thank you again.

Obviously recommend Victron, but seems to be tough getting one. Mine was through ebay with free delivery from a company in Tewkesbury, if you bought direct from them delivery was £90!

If you want a rigid panel, is that just a standard domestic panel? If so, they’re dirt cheap from well known manufacturers (LG, panasonic, etc) but maybe you can buy specially robust versions for vans etc?

I am not so clued up on the topic so still feeling my way around trying not to catch a cold. I feel I've already had my pants taken down twice and laughed at by the converter I have trusted but I am unwilling to go the flexable/bonded route a 3rd time. I am hoping to benefit from others experience and knowledgde this time - as they say, 3rd time lucky.
