Good evening all, firstly I'll introduce myself. Im Dom from Leeds, I'm fairly new to the Transporter scene, bought my T6 about 7 months ago. It's safe to say it's not been an enjoyable experience thus far.
Shortly after buying (privately) my Van (the dreaded pre 2018 Biturbo) i realised it wasn't right, burning a lot of oil and constant DPF/EGR warnings.... basically the engine was cooked. I made the decision to have a new engine fitted, at great cost. They replaced the engine, Turbos, EGR, Flywheel and a few other bits, almost £16k later i got the van back. Immediately when driving it i noticed a strong smell of fuel/oil when idling. I reported it back to the garage, took it back, they checked it and said it was fine and was likely some residue that was burning off, and to try do some miles to clear it. I did this and the van soon started cutting out when idling. I parked up and noticed a large pool of diesel under the van.... it'd blown a pipe off
. I got the van recovered to the garage and they repaired the pipe and deep cleaned the engine/bay. That was almost 2000 miles ago and the smell still exists and is getting worse. I've messaged the garage and they're now saying that if it's a preexisting issue I'll be charged for the repair, which is insane considering they replaced everything
So I suppose my question is, what do you guys think is causing the smell (which appears to be more on the drivers side of the engine bay) ?
Many thanks
Dom
