Sliding Door On The Left For California?

According to the press here:

"Volkswagen Australia plans to offer a factory manufactured right-hand drive/left side sliding door California in 2020."

Is there any news in the UK on this?

Wow that’s a first. If they’re doing it at all then they’re bound to sell it in the UK, economy of scale, plus they must sell more Calis in the UK than in Aus.

I prefer having the door on the right though, just works better for me.

My 'conversion' has doors on both sides... four whole doors to climb in and out of, damn choices all the time

Seriously though, can they not just do a LWB version? Now that would be useful.
