Sliding door middle hinge runner adjustment

Hello,

The other day it sounded like my sliding door started rubbing on something slightly, and now all of a sudden it has become very hard to move. It only slides freely when lifting the door up, indicating that the door has dropped down. There doesn't seem to be anything stuck in the runners, the door just needs to be readjusted (I think).

I took a couple pics of the mechanism, the first is how it is when it’s rubbing, and the second it where I have lifted the door upwards so it runs freely.

Does anyone know how to adjust the mechanism so it’s like pic 2? (IMG_6187)

Thanks,
Matt

Hi, I’ve got a similar problem with the middle hinge stripping the paint off and making a real mess of the van. I adjusted it with an Allen key and it was fine for a few days and now it’s started rubbing on the paint work again (see pics). I don’t think I can adjust it any further as it’s as far as the screw will go (see image). Any ideas out there on what the next thing is to check? Thanks in advance!

Have you checked that the lower roller hasn’t collapsed? If it has the whole door drops and the middle roller assembly isn’t designed to support the weight.

Thanks. The lower roller went about 6 months ago and was replaced but all seems fine.

That’s along way from fine, there’s enough dirt / rust to cause the premature failure of the new bottom roller. I should be cleaned out and re-painted
Point taken. I’m away on a 3 week trip at the moment so it’s one of the first jobs when I get back.

I suspect the mid roller assembly got mis-aligned during the bottom roller replacement if the door height wasn’t maintained correctly with a jack etc.
The door is very heavy and will easily damage the mid roller if not supported properly.

thanks. The issue only started a few days ago and an adjustment with an Allen key seem to fix it and then almost overnight it dropped again. Is there anything that can fail with the middle hinge? Thanks for the advice.

I've just had a similar problem and it's the middle roller mechanism attached to door as per matts pic and potentially the roller arm attachment has slightly twisted. I've adjusted it to the max and no more thread to use to lift the door.

Does anyone know where the adjustment mechanism attached to tge door can be purchased? I can find the arm attachment but not that. 16 plate T6.

I managed to fix mine. I took the door card off and it turned out where the middle arm attaches to the door had come slightly loose causing the door to drop. I lifted the door slightly to re-align, tightened everything up and now it’s fine.

Aye, did this exact thing to the max adjustment with no more thread on the door atrach, which raised it just shy of the trim but dropped after one trip leaving a larger gap at tge rear to tge front. All water tight and locking, which is the important thing in the 1st instance, but annoying seeing it not aligned and having to be cautious when opening 😅

Own a camper, it will be fun they said 😆 once you can take it out properly lol

Make sure none of the nylon rollers are worn or their bearings defective.
They don’t last forever and there’s no point adjusting a worn out mechanism.
