Sliding Door gap

Random question. Still getting used to the new van.

The side of the van the sliding door is on. Now I am seeing the van at a lower level (sat in my car next to it) I notice that the 'vent' for the door to slide has a bend in it making it bigger near where the door closes.

This seems to be part of the design but I don't really have another can to compare it to?

I can fit sever fingers in there.

Yes this is the same on all vans

Sweet. Just seemed more obvious, though I have to admit mine is obviously the only one I've got that close to.
