Single passenger seat storage?

Currently have 2+1 front seats. Considering changing to two single seats for comfort for longer distances.

However, the van is a camper and when we go away we chuck so much stuff into the double seat storage and I'm very reluctant to lose this space.

Is there a single seat base with good storage or other alternatives? Has anyone kept the double seat storage and put a single seat on top?

There's only two of us using the camper here and the amount of good stuff (mostly shoes and wash bags) that you can get under the double seat means it's a keeper.
The single seat option might be more comfortable but it's still a van seat and not a Lazy Boy recliner.

I'm with @Stay Frosty - wouldn't be without the storage that the double seat offers. We keep all sorts of crap in ours (but not shoes and wash bags - they go elsewhere). That said, a lot of that crap only gets a very infrequent outing but on the day that I need it and it isn't there, I will be swearing a lot! Opinions on double seat comfort are divided, even on modified ones like ours with a Vankraft bracket, Seatshelf and armrest/storage box but we both find it good, even on long runs.

Yes these are my thoughts precisely. I like the idea of two single seats but I suspect the first camping trip would be instant regret!

@Ayjay I already have lowered seat base and vankraft bracket. Are the armrests OEM?

@tomosllyr Sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer - my set up only works if there's just two of you as the Seatshelf effectively loses the third seat (but is easily removable if required) and when I said armrest / storage box, that's exactly what it it. The seat shelf was bought online (SeatShelf - T6 Swivel Bench Seat - I notice that it's nearly twice the price from when I bought it about 6 years ago!). I made the box from some spare 8mm spruce board before covering in [near] matching grey 4 way stretch material - it gives even more storage for smaller bit and bobs and even makes up for the pathetic glove box that VW seem happy to supply with the van.
The box isn't fixed to the seatshelf but there is a piece of wood screwed in to stop the box shifting forward in the event of sharp braking.
We've not got a lowered seat base but I have thought about it. That said, my wife is the vertically challenged one and she OK with it as is - I'm 6'1" so it doesn't bother me in the least!

@tomosllyr I have a storage box / armrest for sale (£35 posted) as used in the USA on front bench seats. We had it in our van until changed to twin captains seats.Let me know if you are interested.
