Shock shocker

Hi all, I have a 2020 T6.1 Velle with 4 motion and VDC. I've been informed that the offside shock is leaking excessively and needs replacing. its only done 32k miles but hey ho.

However stock is a problem and VW cant get one for at least a month with no guarantees - called Bilstein - theirs are not due in till December!

So wondering if the forum has any advice - i did consider getting an air shock system fitted a while back but winced at the price...

The VW part no is 7LA4130432A - but apparently that was superceded with 7LA4130432B in 2022 which also fits

A quick fondle of Google shows plenty of suppliers claiming to have Bilstein in stiok.

Failing that theres other decent enough alternatives such as Monroe, Sachs, KYB, etc, who all make OE spec replacements for modest money. Even the added complication of 4motion and, presumably, T32 doesnt seem to be an issue if you want something decent but aren't a fashion victim for a name tag.

Apols - yes DCC! ' Dynamic Chassis Control system - doesn't do a lot from experience but needs a specifc shock to work with it

Ah, OK. Sadly my van doesn’t have DCC (my Golf does) which gives a great ride but yeah - the shocks leak virtually from new. And cost a fair whack too.

For my Golf the local independent garage sourced new units from Monroe (which I believe VW use but rebrand them) and saved a fair chunk of change.

Worth checking if Monroe do a version that fits your Transporter @nikster

Have a look on eBay. I sourced some Munroe ones for my DCC equipped Passat when VW had no stock post-Covid. The VW ones were Monroe manufactured.

Seems a shame but if the OP doesn’t change DCC settings too often then I guess it makes sense for them.

I know for the Golf KW do shocks that work with VW DCC system (they also do their own aftermarket system) but it’s over £2k for the four shocks which is a big outlay. Doubt they do shocks for vans anyway.
