Service Confusion

Hi Guys,

Sorry, probably really obvious question - I've tried researching but getting conflicting info - I know you guys will give spot on answer...

Van has done 11k miles, its on variable servicing, just checked Service info on MFD - it states 11,900 miles / 181 days - is that a service when I get to 11,900 miles or is it counting down - i.e should be another 11,900 (thus 22,900 in total) before it needs a service.

I'm thinking the latter, its dropped a couple of hundred miles very quickly recently despite only doing a few mikes, but currently only doing around town so factors such as that reduce the longevity of service requirements.

Thanks as always20180320_211544.jpg

Hi Mate its a count down time which ever comes first miles or days. Your inspection is due first in 138 days you may as well get lube service done at same time.

Sorry, labouring a point here, as I'm currently at 11k miles, presume neither Oil or Inspection are due at 11,900 or 13,900 respectively - i.e instead its counting down from these totals - but of course the 138 days will come sooner than me achieving a further 11,900 or 13,900 miles...

Get ready for your corroded brake discs, just had my first service 18,500miles and VW telling me discs need replacing, see separate thread:cry:

For oil change I do recommend doing it max. after 20 000km/15 000miles no matter what the display says! Yes, the longlife oilservice is OK if you do mainly highway or main roads with nice long cruising, but if you do lot of short trips and driving in town then longlife is rubbish!

As also worked in VW I've seen a few people doing their "longlifes" over and over again :)

Edit: yes, the display shows the miles or days remaining til next service
