sca poptop roof seal

Hello - question for the SCA roof owners - has anyone got a pic of their seal that goes around the shell? We have a 198 LWB roof and the seal has been cut too short by the fitter so we have a gap at the back.. i'd like to do it properly and also change the model to the more "deluxe" version which seems much better.. i had seen a pic on here a while ago of this but i cant find it.. any help out there?

ta!

Got a pic of yours now?

To compare?

The seals can collect water and shite over time. If you remove it give it a clean out and refit from the front (I guess the butt is at the back) you may find it fits ok.
Like a door seal keep the fit tight as you work around, you may find it takes more that one attempt.

i'll get a pic tomorrow. ah ok thanks @DXX i hadnt thought of that - it does seem to fit ok round the front.. so i doubt there is much slack.. i'd still be interested in finding this other part number but SCA are tricky to get in touch wth - only through the dealers - and in switzerland this is tricky!

As @DXX says, I had my (Skyline Aurora) pop top resprayed. When the van was returned to me it had about a 20mm gap in the rubber profile at the back of the pop top where the painter was a little lazy putting it back on. I removed it and re-installed 2/3 times and managed to get it to meet and butt up nice and close again. It's an annoying task as when it was installed new it was long enough I knew with some fettling I could get it aligned again

I know this is an old thread but I have a follow up question. The trim around my pop top (SCA 190 deluxe) has lost any grip it had on the edge and is a pain to put back each time I lower the roof. I want to refit it and give the edge a good clean but I need to know how the trim is secured to the edge - is adhesive or mastic used or anything else or is it supposed to rely purely on friction?
Thanks

As above; first time raising the roof after a few weeks, the rubber seal at the front sticks to the roof and pulls away from the pop top. Pushes back on easily enough and stays put, but would like to glue it back in place permanently.
Gorilla contact adhesive OK, or any better suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. Been considering some sort of 'matt' strip on the roof, for the rubber seal to sit on, to stop it sticking.
Could apply adhesive to stick the seal back firmly, but it feels like it's only going to get pulled off again due to the way the rubber is sticking to the paintwork.
Struggle to believe this isn't a known issue with a known fix ?!!

It’s the same issue with many different types of roofs, I’ve been advised by Reimo NOT to use adhesive.
Remove the seal and using a pair of grips (photo) which are carefully adjusted to the correct gap - just enough to compress the seal to produce a push fit of the seal on the roof edge.
Work around the full length of the seal with the grips so that the seal gap is closed to a uniform gap over the full length.
Measure and mark the mid point in the length and fit this at the front / centre.
Attach the seal on both sides at the same time stretching it towards the rear to ensure no gap at the butts. It may take several adjustments to get the correct tension / gap.
Two people will no doubt apply different tension so one person may have a better overall result.
Silicone grease prevents the seal drying out and sticking to the body.

Thanks, great advice. Although, again that does just seem to be a way of improving the rubber seal's grip on the pop top. I still think when the seal dries and sticks to the roof, it will be pulled off again at some point.
The most interesting part is the last line!
"Silicone grease prevents the seal drying out and sticking to the body."

A relative did suggest similar but I thought that might not be advisable. But if Reimo have said that, maybe that's the answer!
Thanks

Clean the weatherstrip thoroughly and treat it with Gummi Pflege. That should stop it sticking.

In extreme cases clean the mating surface of the paintwork and give is a careful spray with dry-lube. It'll stop it sticking for sure, won't harm the synthetic rubber of the weatherstrip, and eliminates any rubbing or squeaking noises on wobbly roads.

Only if the body adhesion is greater than he friction from the seal grip.
Owning a campervan with a pop top is akin to owning a boat, it needs regular maintenance.

Doh! I ended up applying a small amount of Gorilla contact adhesive before pushing the seal back on
I then sprayed the rubber surface with silicone grease.
Not had a reoccurrence of the issue since.
