SC55 Camper display fuse

Hi,

There is a 5A fuse, which apparently powers a camper display. But what is that?
What does the fuse actually power? I have a cheapest non thrills 2016 T6 panel van, and I don't think i have a camper display (whatever that is).

You will only get the camper display if you have a California. It’s in the headlining cubbyhole.

Hm.. ok. Then the question is why there's a fuse installed there.

The headlining cubbyhole in my van is just that, a cubbyhole.
I do however have a display mounted underneath. It's for the oem diesel heater, but I guess that is powered by another fuse?

Guess I could always pull the fuse and see what goes dark :)

SC55 is basically "S contact signal" = ignition key still in lock. Keeps e.g. radio alive until the key is removed from the lock.

Check the socket it’s plugged into. If there is a metal terminal on both sides then it’s not a spare.

Oh it's live fuse. Metal and voltage and all that. It just doesn't seem to power anything.
Nothing goes dark when it's pulled and no warnings in dash.

Same here, SC55 has a 5a fuse, but my 2018 T6 caravelle has no camping equipment, or leisure battery.

Having seen a few recommendations I'd wired up to this fuse to get an s-contact, but no 12v feed whatsoever.
Looking at diagrams I see the ignition (D)...

Before I strip under column, any ideas why SC55 gets no power?

Great question!

I've been testing a bunch of exhaust sound boosters and found the things sound like you've pulled the plug out instead of a more natural sound of an engine shutting down. So wanted to try and see how that would sound.

I'm not sure any of these are as low consumption as they could be when the vehicle's not running so would rather not hook up to permanent 12v.

Any idea if any allow 12v for a while after key has been removed?
This thread suggests the MIB2 head unit cuts off after a while but haven't tested yet

Cheers
