Are these easy enough to remove? no need for filling etc once removed? doubt i'll ever use them.

Yes, if they are the OEM ones there are 3 bolts each side underneath a little oval plastic trim piece. Under these is the Allen bolt. You should have 6 blanking bolts with rubber washers to fill the holes.

yes they are OEM, i take it the bolts and blanks will need to be bought from VW?

My roof bolt holes had a 3mm rubber washer with a pan head bolt fitted..

I bought a used van, there were 6 bolts in the glove box I had no idea what they were for at first. Did you not get these?
