Rob's T6 Overland Camper Build Thread

Interesting . Do you have a link and what's the functionality like ?

Functionality is a relative term when it comes to a solar panel. For my purpose it works great, I have it wired up with a splitter:
1) It charges my cranking battery with its own little MPPT when we are parked up for a while. That way I know the car will always start
2) I can flip a switch and it add to the other solar panels i have installed to charge my secondary battery. (Many will say this is wrong but it works for me and thats all that matters)

Heres a link with a nice little 10% discount code

Currently have a folding Jackery 100w panel which feeds LB and SB through relays but obviously need to be parked up to use it.

Noise update: Tested the van over the weekend, it definitely sounds like a flute on the freeway. 50 - 80km/h it whistles, then 80 - 120km/h it sounds like I'm stuck in a gale force wind... Honestly, the lighting isn't great either...

I am going to change the slim Light bar with nuts to a slightly bigger one that doesn't have the nuts...

Updates coming soon.

The last 2 weeks bought quite a few finishing mods and work done to the van.

Started off with a full service, cambelt replacement, serpentine belt replacement, all fluids and 35mm lift suspension fitted.

This ofcourse meant it had to go for wheel alignment. Found a place nearby, the kit is over 40 years old, tried and tested. Serious old school vibes right here.

Then after battling with ADblue issues, SCR countdowns etc I decided its time to code out the Adblue system and while at it, got an ECU remap to give the van that little bit of extra power. He happily moves around with 182hp now. Really feels like a different van all together.

Lastly the van went in for an annual inspection.

Didnt you manage to knock out a clutch prematurely with standard power, or was that someone else on here?

I had my clutch replaced while on a trip in Sardinia, but at 186,000km and it being an original clutch from new, it was completely understandable.

This isn't a racecar, and isn't treated as one. The extra power is to make up for the loss due to added weight, converting it to a camper, AT wheels etc. Highways and uphills etc

Forgot to add, also stopped at the local coal weigh bridge and asked if we could quickly weigh the van. all the mods, full tank of fuel, full water tank it comes to 2,790kg
