Just flicked on to the Autosport website to catch up with the F1 testing news to read that Murray Walker has passed away. I loved his commentary, in my eyes he's just legendary. Watching F1 as a kid and listening to Murray's inimitable style are some great memories. I've missed him as a commentator ever since he retired. RIP Murray.

Agreed, a legend, his excitement and enthusiasm was infectious, he loved motorsport, that was clear in his voice, and he added to our entertainment immeasurably. It doesn't seem like 20 years since he retired.

F1 is not the same without him
I met him once and got his autograph when I was about 8, great guy, RIP

Yeh I've been in to F1 from a very young age , Murray is the voice I always remember , I was gutted when he retired in 2001 as commentary hasn't been the same since ,this pic is from Silverstone 2000 when Jenson had his first drive for BMW and Murray had announced his retirement we made a flag to honour his service ( poor pic I know )IMG_20210313_192844_124.jpg

Sorry this is going to sound harsh and no disrespect but while he may have been a jolly old fella and well loved he wasn't a very good commentator.

F1 commentary was probably much more difficult than we realise, especially in the days when the drivers used to overtake each other and duel for position, not just on the first corner but throughout the race. There was much more going on then!

I had the privilege of saying hello to this man at Williams F1 a few years ago ,such a nice man .
RIP Mr Walker

RIP Murray.
Just read that “Marvellous” Marvin Hagler has just passed away at the age of 66.
