Rev`s drop off

Can someone help me out with some info,
Just recently picked up my new 204 4motion DSG and have noticed, when i take my foot off the accelerator the revs drop off to idle speed, then when you either touch the brake or accelerator again the revs go back up. Its as though its going into neutral everytime you take your foot off??

That is the "Coasting" function, all normal. Can be disabled in the mfd but fine once you get used to it.

It's very intuitive and smooth, I like it personally, just the slightest press of the brake peddle (enough to trigger the light switch) will reengage the drive for engine braking. Like all these things the effect on fuel is slight but for the life of the vehicle might save one penguin:)

Had the same thing in my auto A6. I really liked it, especially since it used to drink harder than Gazza. Have a manual T6 so have to engage the coasting function by other means.

On a run it improved my 204os dsg 4motion by around 3mpg.
That's why I don't use cruise, it overrides the coasting function.
