Retrofit PDC - any one done it with the kit from carsystems.eu?

regurgitating my post from the California forum.

My 2017 Cali Ocean (spec'd for Denmark market, sold in Germany, now in Slovenia!) didn't come with Parking sensors. After some discussion and threads on here, I took the plunge and bought a kit from carsystem.eu in Poland, and received what appear to be VW parts in kit form. All I had to do was worry about programming.

Sure enough, all the hardware appears VW (sensors, module, beepers, switch and front grills) except the wiring loom. This seems to be a locally made. The instructions are appalling and are from an unrelated German company that seems to supply all the bits but as separate items. The document supplied is vague, misses out fitting the rear sensors completely and has you soldering into the wiring system and stuffing modules behind dash panels. Not quite plug and play into the vacant holes where PDC should be.

The sensors in the bumpers are in. Removing the bumper covers and drilling was a bit daunting, but manageable, Routing the wiring was more difficult due to the lack of instructions but again, was manageable. I am now stuck with making the final connecting in the cabin area.

Here come the questions....
  • Anyone else done this before with the kit from carsystems.eu?
  • Anyone have info relating to where things should go and be connected inside the cabin?
I have some of the manuals relating to electricals, but cannot find the chassis and bodywork manual to which other documents refer too. I can see where the module and front buzzer are supposed to be but I cannot get to the space (dash out?) Other things like splicing into existing cables and soldering to pins in a wiring harness plug scares the jeebies out of me.

Haven't even thought about programming yet!

I have attached their (translated) document to see if anyone can make head / tail of it.

@permatthe Thanks - which side of the van did you have to route the cables? Did you go under the van or through the roof void?

Under and driver’s side. Note my California is LHD.

There’s no chance of going over with all the cupboards and pop roof.

Thanks for letting me know. I bought a kit from Vagtec from Poland so assume it's a European (LHD) length cabling.

How did you get on? I have just completed the install and I am having some issues with VCDS coding.
