Remap Newbie

Hi All

Possibly opening a can of worms here on subjects that appear to have been discussed. Remaps, Pendle the way forward? How do i know what ECU I have?
My transporter is a T6.1 150ps jan 2021.

Looking for a little more power and ideally fuel efficiency. Seen there are chips you can buy, theres ecu remaps, gearbox remaps? Pedal boxes, i'm lost...

Just after something straight forward that will increase performance and efficiency but wont cause any other problems. Van is still under 5 year manufacturers warranty - ideally dont want it to affect that either.

Answers on a postcard please
:)

Thanks
Matt

Info here on how to identify which ecu you have

Try out Celtic Tuning near Newquay. I think they have other branches around the country but its been brilliant on my van.

Don't believe anything to do with improving fuel efficiency !

This is handy for me, as well.

Nice one!

Thanks all - i did have a feeling efficiency maybe a bit of a myth.

Are the 'dongle chips' ok or best to go for a Pendle remap?

and gearbox remap 'a thing'?

Cheap tuning boxes aren't ideal, but some work well. A friend runs a Tunit and is happy enough.

Better tuning boxes that take multiple inputs and behave more like piggyback ECUs can be very good, but can cost more than a decent remap anyway.

Get a decent live remap, so Pendle would fit the bill or a Pendle agent with a dyno.

Was just on leighton website and stumbled across this

i think i'd rather take it to a pendle specialist then its done physically rather than a chip with preset conditions

I recently bought a T6 Caravelle 150. After 4 days, I took it to BMS. Revo & gearbox map. It drives like a completely different van. No difference to MPG. It's not a race car, a generic map is more than sufficient, as it stays within safe limits. The DSG can still take about another 170nm

I had Revo on an A4 1.9tdi 20 years ago, that did over 150k in 3 years with no issues. In recent times, I've had various BMW engines and gearboxes remapped with no issues. I always adhere to strict oil changes. Any of these things will invalidate a warranty.
