Rear fog light not working

Hi there. I have a 2016 T6 which I have recently had converted and a tow bar fitted. When I switched the fog light on, the warning bulb came on and the fog light isn't working. I've tested the the bulb housing and also the towbar pin with a multimeter and no volts are coming through. It went back to the conversion company today and they disconnected the towbar electrics and said the fog light wasn't working when they did the fitting (but someone forgot to pass that message on to us). They've tested the junction box under the passenger seat and confirmed no volts are coming through there either (to tray and prove it's nothing to do with the conversion). I can only assume it's a fault with a fuse, a relay fuse or the switch. Any ideas please? As I'm going mad! Attached is a pic of my fuseboard as I understand everyones is different!

It turns out my rear fog light issue was down to the conversion company I used drilling through the wiring in the roof lining and earthing it against the metal roof when they fitted the awning rail (not that they admitted to this), I had to get a qualified auto electrician to diagnose this! Don’t think the conversion company I used have qualified auto electricians otherwise they would have known that the system shuts down with such an issue to prevent a potentially dangerous vehicle fire. Anyway all sorted now, but for anyone else that has the problem, having had a conversion done, worth checking!

Hi Simon

I think I have the same issue, fog light not working and no power at the pin. Was it easy enough to get to the loom to repair. My van is fully converted so not sure how auto electrician will get to the loom?

There can be many reasons why there is no power, I wouldn’t rush to pull the roof lining down until everything else is eliminated.

Thanks, auto electrician taking a look on Friday, fog light is dead at the cluster but need to work way back to under passenger seat and ensure there is power at the mid harness connector. If so I think a wire has been caught when poptop was fitted.

If it is I would consider running an alternative wire / route instead of ripping the van apart.
If a screw has severed a conductor it’s not likely to have then separated and remain insulated, it would still be in contact creating a direct short to the body which would blow the fuse.

Yeah there going to test the fog cabling and then run a new wire, I suspect they will be able to pull a wire up the B pillar along the roof line or poptop strengthening frame and drop down behind the cluster

My local garage ran a new wire for my fog light on the underneath of the van alongside the ABS cable (to avoid ripping out of of the internal conversion and disturbing the cabling in the roof lining). I made the conversion company pay for it though as it was their fault and liability. It's been fine ever since.

Hope you get yours sorted.
