Had a renewal notification email this morning from RAC. £286.99

T6.1 2021 SWB
- standard breakdown cover
- national recovery
- EU cover

Quote from AA £78
- standard breakdown cover
- national recovery

Called RAC to cancel and after much faff they renewed my policy, without EU cover, for £76.99

Don't let them take you for a ride!

I go from AA to RAC to AA to RAC...

Customer service from TheAA when I tried to cancel was terrible, offered me a 6p per month discount. 🤣🤣🤣

As it happens I need to cancel it and go back to the RAC again.

I use auto aid, and I can tell you when you're stuck far from home and they get you back it's like the fourth emergency service.
I'm autoaid myself, used them last year with zero issues. Only thing was poor mushka had to remain in the van whilst being towed. She wasn't a very happy husky. Luckily it was only for 60 miles.

I guess all breakdown companies follow the no dogs in the breakdown truck policy

They cant be much of an emergency service if they actually arrive when you need them!

RAC turned up to retrieve my car with a hydo locked engine 3 days after I called them needless to say I haven’t renewed with them and they are best avoided

I was told the best cover to have is via your bank as you get better customer service in that the recovery companies don’t want to loose a big contract with a bank provider if too many of their customers complain

Cancelled my RAC this year too. Same price as @Nick Fox!! That was just for my van and home start. They’d already taken the money but when I asked for a refund they couldn’t give it back to my card because it was an old card:rofl: (but can clearly take it from an outdated one!)so I had to be issued with a good old fashioned cheque which took 10 days in the post:whistle:
Got AA cover for me and mrs in any car for £80. Just hope I never have to use them

Just (not) renewed. Have always used Tesco Clubcard vouchers, but not this year.

Family of 3, renewal = £330+

Via TopCashBack, new customer, Family of 4 and higher level of cover = £ 164.

Loyalty is not rewarded.

No chance I'm renewing with the RAC for any money, they are utterly useless.

The first rule of renewals is to call them and tell them to reprice or you are leaving.
Doesn't matter if breakdown, insurance (although some won't be arsed), or broadband, ask for a better price.

My cover ran out this year, Mrs has a Nationwide Flex account, £20/mnth I believe, with various Insurances which I now also benefit from as she added me as a Joint Account Holder at no extra money. We have Travel/Mobile Phone and 2 vehicles with European cover, including repatriation for £240/year.
I thought this was not bad really in this day and age.
