Quick help please. Is this a 150 or 199 bitdi?

Hi folks.

I'm just looking at 2018 Caravelle, reg check says its a 150 bhp. But, it's a 4Motion Velle which I thought was only available with the 199.

I'm looking in the engine, and my current 2019 T6 Combi (which is 150bhp) has the single black pipe here highlighted in blue (first pic).
But the 2018 Velle (second pic) has the metal pipe seemingly splits in two (BitTDI?) Highlighted in red.

But all reg checks says its a 150.

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Got hold of the V5 and it does say '150'.

Hmm..

Thanks for replies so far.

I'm just a bit baffled at the moment:

From the pics i shared, I know the first pic of my T6 Combi van (black rubber pipe (highlighted in blue)) is a 150 BHP engine.

And to me (and as Dellmassive suggests) the second picture with the silver metal pipe that seemingly splits in two, looks like the 199 BHP BiTurbo engine .... which we are trying to avoid for obvious reasons!!

What is odd, is that a free online reg check for the Velle says "110 KW / 148 BHP", which is the same it says for my T6 which is promissing. But the V5 doc when i skimmed it did have that magic number '150', but that must of been against the 'Max. net Power (kW)' field ....as Dubber36 suggests might be the case (meaning it's a 199 biturbo).

Lastly, i did take a pic of some VW paperwork for the Velle, and it had the engine number as CXE065*** which surely is a 199 biturbo engine? ... which makes me think the free Reg Check & Private dealer are wrong in sayng is a 120KW / 150BHP engine.

When I get home later I'll check my own T6 Combi V5 doc to see what (kW) it says, and ib comparrison will also check a VW invoice to see if the engine model is noted as I'm sure my T6 Combi is a CXH* engine.

Im just very carefully not to get a 199 (having being burned previously with a T5 180 .. granted slightly different issue to the 199 issue), and don't fancy mangled piston rings & £15k engine replacement.

Thanks for help so far fellas 👌 invaluable!

Never take the data on a V5 as gospel (or any online lookup that uses V5 data as a sole data source). Dealers have been known to provide duff info at first registration.

This is very true and all to common
Yup, my 1.6L, petrol, manual Mondeo estate was a 2.0L, diesel, automatic saloon according to its V5, the DVLA, and the whole of the internet.

And, yes, the VINs matched, so not a really poor attempt at cloning.

Ford Vins can be pretty easy to transplant/alter/delete in my experience.......
Did the engine number check out?

Gone now, so I no longer care, but it was an absolute PITA come insurance renewal.

What's the REG?

Is it possible the engine has been swapped?... For the bigger BiTurbo?... Possible on a 6year old van?

Thanks everyone for your swift comments! Really helpful.

In reply to one question above, the reg was VW04VEL should you wish to look it up yourself.

In short, it's definitely a biturbo 199.

Overall I think it has been poorly advertised by the showroom. But I'll give the sales guy a little slack and he was only going off the info on his computer system. And oddly their computer system (which he showed us) clearly stated '150 BHP' .... not (kW) ... see this pic ... bottom right value of 'Power'.

And so its all been a bit misleading ... hopefully in error, not in murkyness. But when you are paying a lot of money for a top-spec Velle, it should be very clear on the engine you are getting!

Thanks fellas.

Although its clearly got a CXEB engine number in that photo, which is the 204 biturbo is it not?
Technically by advertising it as a 150bhp they are undervaluing it, as the biturbo is a premium engine variant - unless of course you are aware of the failure issues.
