I do not imagine that anyone will be surprised that pump prices are likely to rise due to the troubles in the Middle East particularly since the US Bombed the Iranian Nuclear Sites. Crude has risen about 10% so far and is likely to climb so expect pump prices to rise as the usually use the least excuse to bump them and take their time to drop them. So any excursions likely to cost more as will many other things.

It takes about 6 weeks from coming out the ground to reaching the pumps, but you can bet they won't wait 6 weeks before jacking up the forecourt prices!

Most of Iran's output is bought by China, so it doesn't physically affect the west much. Sadly logic has no place in the commodities market and it's a wonderful excuse to bend everyone over and line their pockets.

Fortunately I use so little it makes not a lot of difference to me.

But 100% of the goods you eat/buy/consume/drink are supplied by people/companies who do use one/some of the many by-products of crude oil....

So we're all still going to be 'bent over' as you put it even if you drive an EV (which have a hell of a lot of virgin plastic in manufactured from crude oil!)

Sigh...!

I tend not to get too worked up on fuel prices or mpg never have.
It’s just another must have commodity I’m afraid.
500ml of Coca Cola is £2.00 these days
Pint of premium lager min £6.00
Litre of decent water is same as fuel prices
Can go on and on
By the time it comes out the ground transported across the world in to the pumps governments taxed it etc etc is it that bad?
Il get my coat🥴

A litre of fuel costs less than a decent litre of farm fresh milk. When one considers the effort involved in digging it up, transporting it, refining it, transporting it again, etc, it's stupendously inexpensive.

And the proof is all around us. People moan that it costs too much but are still happy to waste it driving their kids half a mile to school, or driving a quarter mile,e to the shop for a paper. The average car journey in Greater Manchester is less than 1000 metres, or a pleasant 10 minute stroll.

So it clearly cant be that pricy if people are haply to fritter it away like that.

The $ barrel price for crude oil is the backbone of the World Economy. Forecourt prices are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The upward movement in crude prices is reflected in almost everything we minions do or use — but we have zero control over!
If anyone has ever watched documentaries about a world without oil you will see how humanity is totally reliant on the black stuff!
Let’s hope current conflict settles down asap.

Crude has been at record lows for quite a while now. A 10% rise still won’t be historically high.
NB, we filled up in Spain a couple of weeks ago at €1.19/litre, the BP garage down the road was €1.59 go figure

If you want to investigate expensive fluids, check out the price per litre of inkjet printer ink!

You are never getting out of them chains
Anyone that can’t grasp water has a cost in its abstraction or movement doesn’t get to be taken seriously. The stuff weighs a ton per cubic meter. Then he confused petrol with oil… and all that in the first 90 seconds.
I had to stop watching.
