(Potential) new 5.1 Owner with some questions

Hi everyone

Looking to buy our first Campervan. Haven’t a huge amount to spend so looking at an early T5.1.

We have found a 2013 T5.1 start line T30 2.0 TDI 113ps for sale with a conversion company. The business is family run with a good rep online. They did this one 4 years ago and the owner has traded it in for a newer one. It had usual bits, rock n roll bed, storage, hob and sink with water pump. Pop top roof with mattress. Fridge. Curtains all round including windscreen but no heater.

It’s done 110k which is below average for the year. It has a comfort pack which includes A/C, cruise control, rear parking sensors. Inside the interior is really good with bench seat at the front. Outside there is an awning on the side which you unwind. A little dirt poss mould on it in places.

The price is £24,999. It has 2 previous owners, is an ex MOD owned cabin van which they converted to a pop top. Being ex MOD is was serviced with them regularly. Recent service history is there and it’s just last month had new cambelt, water pump, tensioners etc. also just had a full service and MOT with no advisories.

It has 4 new tyres all round. It’s two tone white and blue. Has a bit of rust in places you’d expect mainly rear barn doors where rubber touches the paint at the top and the sliding door at the bottom but generally for the year of the van the body work and interior is in great condition.

We saw it at a local camper show so have paid a refundable deposit and will test drive it in a few days. The company said they will also add solar panel to the roof for free. The roof canvas has some mildew/mould on the fabric however. Not sure easy that would be to remove.

So my questions are is the price reasonable for the year, mileage and what I’m getting etc?

Anything I should specifically be looking out for when test driving it? I don’t think clutch has been replaced but will try it by moving off very slowly to check for any judder etc. but anything else I should be aware of?

Ideally we were after a 140ps but wondered if 113 would actually suffice. It’s a 5 speed box.

This will be our first van so any help appreciated.

Thank you!

I can't help thinking that's too much money for what it is.
Just my opinion.
Good luck whatever you decide.

would also come with a 6 month warranty.

Also, living down in the south west by Cornwall these things tend to be a little more pricey I’ve noticed down here.

What would people say is a reasonable price?

Are you sure about that, jobs are scarce and there’s no shortage of Transporters in Cornwall.
It’s summer, any seller is going to advertise high and see if somebody snaps it up. It’s an asking price. You need to haggle.
