Possibly collecting a T6.1 this week, advice needed!

Update…

After a bit of faffing about (standard procedure), I’ve ended up buying a white T28 72-plate DSG highline with only 8,000 on the clock. As its the highline it already has the reversing camera, sensors all round, heated windscreen, auto lights/rain sensing wipers etc.

It was originally a panel van but was converted by PWA to a kombi - i.e. has camperglass passenger and tailgate window. Also has reupholstered seats, carpet-lined rear, and it’s sat on 20” Velare alloys - so it looked “worth” the extra £3k at the time… which is exactly what I told myself while handing over the money with a slightly shaky hand.

Only time will tell whether it was a bargain or an expensive life lesson.

The dealer has given me until Tuesday to decide whether I want to take out extended VW warranty.
My understanding is they offer 3 types - essentials, standard, plus.
Plus includes water ingress and I'm debating whether to take it out since it would cover any dodgy window fitting by PWA. But for 2 years, it's another £1400.
What are peoples thoughts on the warranty?

I intend to take it to a reputable local VAG specialist going forward so it'll be well looked after, but can't decide whether the warranty is worth it for peace of mind.
Full forum membership js the best accessory youll ever buy.

Can you not take out VW all-in-one warranty?

Much better value, includes breakdown cover.

I think that's only available for vehicles that aren't covered under an existing warranty. As this will have used-approved warranty for 6 months at least it's a no go for now.
If that's the case, personally I would skip the dealer offer and wait until eligible for the all-in-one.

Pictures or it didnt, blah, blah, blah 😀
Here you go... sorry for the late reply, only just got round to this after a busy week off with the kids during half term. The van is filthy already (my fault for going white) but here's a couple of it at home a week into use, as well as the pics I snagged from the dealers website before they removed it their end.

Speaking of the dealer... it's got to go back to them to have the sliding door looked at - appears to be leaking through the top seal. Seems to be a fairly common problem from what I've read through the forums. Hopefully the dealer get it sorted.

I also keep getting an issue with the ACC and front assist unavailable with the message popping up on the dash every few mins. It seems to coincide with the bumpier/pot hole roads. Not sure if this is a common thing or not, or whether the alignment is out or worse.

Other thoughts after a week of use...

The drive is quite rough - assuming down to the 20" velare wheels on summer budget tyres mainly. Wondering if its possible to achieve a comfortable ride with these wheels at all. Planning on a trip over to Supreme Conversions in Telford over the next couple weeks.

Good looking van. What size tyres you running. I hear a 20” can be comfortable given the right tyre selection. But the suspension also plays a major part if worn or just a low cost option has been fitted. Generally ACC is very good but doesn’t like heavy rain and splashing through deep puddles. That will knock it off. I had my bumper off for modififications and ACC threw a code. I got my OBD out and touch wood it’s been good as gold ever since.

I have 20"Velare VLR07's, and following a suspension upgrade by Steve @CRS Performance in Cannock it drives and handles beautifully. I picked up my van with 275's all round and it was as crashy as a crashy thing. My wheels are staggered with 8.5's on the front and 10's on the back. I changed the tyres on Steve's recommendation to 275/40 on the rear and 245/45 on the front. The difference after the modifications was, and still is, very much worth the monies, a pleasure to drive.

Tyres are:
Doublestar DSU02 255/45/20, 150W (link https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Double+Star/DSU02/255-45-R20-105W-XL/R-486223)

No idea if these are the recommended tyres for comfort but I'm guessing not

Not an issue size wise, at least they aren't 275's all round! I'm sure your problem will be the suspension, many of us on here would recommend a chat with Steve in Cannock, with many write ups of his services via the search function. A very honest bloke, no sales pressure, great results.

Thanks for this. Will schedule a call in with Steve in the coming months. It's currently back with the dealer to sort a few things that were discovered in the first 3 weeks of ownership. Now into the 4th week and waiting for it to be returned 🤦‍♂️

Re. the front assist/ACC, they can't find a problem, sensor is reportedly working fine. As mentioned in another thread, they are telling me their tech believes it to be the thickness of the paint on the grille causing the error. Without the van being here to check - I believe the grille is part of the LV-R styling kit, and I image tens of thousands of these have been sold across the country so I struggle to believe what their tech is saying. Will wait for it to come back and then get a diagnostic tool and see if I can sort it myself.

Has the ACC sensor box been painted?

I have a beautifully painted bespoke grill with good paint cover that throws up an error for 10 minutes every fortnight, soon goes, I can live with it!
I didn't actually realise there was a cover, thought it was just the sensor box. Just had a look at mine (GTT bumper) and yeah there's a cover that's part of the bumper so I presume there's paint on mine too.
