Pop top wind deflector

Hi all, I don’t notice too much wind noise when driving but on fast single carriageways (like to A17 last week) when Lorries are thundering towards me I do get a gush of air which makes a bit of a noise as the air gets under the pop top seal. I’m looking at options and keep seeing the rubber strips that get stuck to the roof panel (in front of the pop. Anyone got any experience of these? Some come with self adhesive tape and others say to fix with silicone so not sure which would be best - tape would be easier but would it last?

Mine had 3m tape, but used a few spots of tiger seal as well to ensure it stays attached.

I cleaned the paint surface with a little white spirit prior to ensure no grease / dirt.

Agree with this. I originally used 3m tape that wasn't wide enough so had to refit (which was ALOT of cleaning of the glue).
I wouldn't use silicone. You won't be getting it back off if you need to.

Did you notice a difference in wind noise? How close to the pop did you fit it?
Yep, at higher speeds, the noise is better with my roof ( Westdubs ) - it's approx 1 cm back from from the front of the metal area you can fit it to, and about 2cm back from roof seal - close enough to get the wind over the top of the roof..

My wind deflector strip and 3m tape have arrived this morning so gonna fit this weekend. Did you go over the rain gutters to the far corners of the pop top or cut it in line with them?

My top came with the wind deflector already fitted. BUT....I had a lot of wind noise at speed due to the exposed rain channels, and had to fill them with foam rubber bungs, held in place with masking tape. Definitely would fit the deflector OVER the rain channels if it's long enough - then if you need to fill the gaps, it will be easier to just wedge something in without necessarily glueing or taping. Never had an issue with water collecting in the channels as a result, by the way.

I carry spare foam insulation pipe to cut to size in case they disappear - but with the roof down they're not going anywhere, and when it's up, a small strip of masking tape keeps them in place (although it does get a bit manky so I replace it every so often)

Fitted the deflector strip yesterday eve but not convinced that the ‘heavy duty, extra strong’ 3m tape that I got is going to hold for too long. Seemed to struggle bonding to one end of the rubber so gonna mask off and put a short bead of black silicone at each end as a double whammy
