Pop Top Roof 'fit'

Morning All,

I have a reimo pop top roof fitted (bought a conversion so haven't been involved int he fitting/choice), seems to work perfectly, does not leak, but it rattles\squeaks a fair bit, especially with the horrendous roads around West Yorkshire. So I bought some self-adhesive foam strip to see if I can quieten it, but when looking closely, the rubber strip around the pop top doesn't even touch the paintwork. Is it supposed to?

When closed, from the inside I can push the 'bed' up probably 0.5-1inch, and same with the actual roof. There are no straps or places I can find to tighten down the roof, it secures by 2 handles with latches, and then a seat belt looking device right at the front.

Thinking might take to a specialist to have a look at.

Are you latching right down tight? The first click is the safety latch (like a door has). You need to tug down hard on the handle to latch it tight.

If you cant get it to the second latch, try it before you fold the cavass under. There is an art to getting the right amount of folding done before you latch down tight.

If you are latching down twice, has it been adjusted properly? If it's the same as our Reimo Easy fit roof, the 2 latches on the outside of the roof (at the front underside), latch into rollers that are height adjustable. Just need a 13mm spanner to move them up and down in the slots. Need to be adjusted to get the second latching position tight.

Ah, maybe that is where I am going wrong, will give it a try, thanks for the suggestion.

@Dilbert Thanks for that, it wasn't clicked down properly, obviously dealer didn't know either when he showed us! Something still bangs\rattles over the really big bumps but think that is the bed, will attack it with foam strips and see what I can find, but it's a damn sight better now.

Thanks for that, it wasn't clicked down properly

Glad you have found the main problem. Bit worrying the dealer did not show you. o_O Did they do the conversion? Is it adjusted correctly? Were you shown how to correctly fold the canvas at the front and at the sides (particularly important if you do not want to trap and damage the canvas in the latching mechanism)?

When its down on the second click, it should be tight so that you can not feel any play when you push the handle up and down. But as I stated above, there is an art to getting the right amount of folding done before you latch down tight. You then tuck in the remaining canvas.

not been shown anything mate, sounds like I need to find some YouTube videos

The conversion was done elsewhere, and the 'dealer' wasn't a VW dealer.
