Spent some time with Plantinum Wave and Campervan King today any opinions on them. I’ve done a quick search but nothing popped up that was recent.

Well we’ve put a deposit down and the search for the base vehicle has begun.

We’re in no rush going to aim to collect mid Jan 2026.

I purchased two vans from the Managing Director of Platinum. Unfortunately, the first one developed an issue within the first month. To his credit, he went above and beyond to make things right and managed to source a replacement vehicle promptly.

I’m sure the deal still worked out profitably for him, but overall, I have no complaints. His commitment to customer satisfaction was clear.
He always picked up the phone when I called him even when I was in a bit of heat sometimes.

What was the issue

I had a few issues with the van shortly after purchase—though to be fair, I bought and took it the same day, so it's unclear whether a proper inspection was carried out before handover.

I drove it home and then straight onto a trip across the continent. The problems started with loose wheel bolts and escalated to noticeable water and oil consumption. Since I work in engine development, I tested the oil myself and found some concerning contaminants that shouldn’t be there.

We had a bit of back-and-forth about the situation. The van was sold with an external warranty, so initially he asked me to handle the issue through that. However, we eventually reached a compromise: he agreed to take the van back and source a replacement for me, rather than refunding the purchase.
