Passenger door open on dashboard when it is closed

Hello, I’m new to all this, so apologies if this has been asked already. When I bought the van the drivers side passenger door sign stays on even when closed. I took it back to the place I bought it from, but it ended up too long a story. I have cleaned both contacts and checked the wires as far as I can. All looks good, apart from the female part in the car frame. The contacts don’t seem to spring back too well. Should I buy a new part? Thanks,
