P0113 Intake Air Temp Sensor

Good afternoon,

I have just come back from a 1400 mile tour of Scotland and the following day the engine light came on with a P0113 error code, IAT sensor reading too high. I have a 2009 2.5TDI 128bhp BNZ engine. I've looked around the engine bay and cannot seem to find an independant IAT sensor, so I can only presume it is built into either the MAF or MAP sensors. Of which I have the following:

MAF 0281 002 735 with 4 wires.
MAP 0281 002 401 also with 4 wires.

I was hoping one had more wires than the other indicating it might have the IAT contained within it. Could anyone kindly suggest where the IAT sensor might be on my engine. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Regards, Chris.

Thank you MMI for your help and diagrams.

Going to check the wires for any breaks tomorrow. If I can work out how to test the sensor with a multimeter I might try that too.

Cheers, Chris.

I removed the sensor today and it all looked a bit oily so I gave it a clean with contact cleaner and refitted it. Reset the fault code and took it for a short drive. So far no warning lights or fault codes. Fingers crossed that's it fixed. Took less time than I thought so I managed to hoover and wash the van too. :)

Good afternoon everyone,

I've not been using the van much recently but some point every journey the warning light would come back on. So last weekend I ended up replacing the sensor. However, this didn't fix the intermitent problem. So I traced the loom down into the engine bay to see if I could find a fault with the wiring. After messing around for 20 minutes or so the wire on pin 2 of the plug came off, I can only presume it was hanging on by a couple of strands. Does anyone know how this could be fixed or where I can get a new plug?

Cheers, Chris.
