Oversink Shelf For Camper

Whilst looking at vans in the Campermart car park today, my wife asked why ours doesn't have a shelf/locker over the sink unit. The simple answer was that Kiravans didn't do one when we bought our furniture from them, and they don't appear to do furniture at all now.

So if I fitted one, it's going to have to be from a different manufacturer. I have looked at a few online, and they appear to screw to the metal work of the box section above the side window (see picture below as an example).

I really don't want to go down the route of stripping off lining etc to check what is there, so does anyone know if there is wiring in that roof box section from the factory. Ours was a panel van to start with, so the only possibility is that there is wiring for the interior lights or rear lights in there, which seems unlikely.
Anyone know the answer, or got a panel van apart that they can look in please ?

Thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete, I did my own conversion from scratch. I believe that all my wiring went down the N/S (passenger) side, with the drivers driver's side being empty of factory wiring. But before you go drilling best wait for someone to check for you first.

Evo do a shelf that you can purchase to if you check with them.

Thanks for that. I have just dug through some old photos of our conversion, and found this. It seems to confirm that the loom to the rear goes on the passenger side.
And of course, threading wires through the roof box section that I am worried about, would be a nightmare in the factory compared to what is in the picture.
