Opinions and discussions.....

The 150 is a great engine but saying that a lot of the transporter problems are ad blue related.
I also had the 140 pre adblue engine done over 100,000 totally trouble free miles but appreciate some people need to be ulez compliant

I'm beginning to wonder about buying a base van first, and investing in a conversion once I am happy with the van...... any opinions?

Edit: Does 'Highline' always include air con? I am looking at one on line 2023 might be a good base but does not mention aircon.
That is an option certainly. As above climate control air con, crazy or very tough not to have it My 101FC did not have it younger and fitter then and the thrill of the big outdoors and wilderness to counter any discomfort that was a real forward control vehicle with the engine under my left elbow but now would be very different. different. Boring but colour may be a concern white reflects the heat of the sun and also helps counter radiating heat in cold weather but one stands out like a beacon if trying to camp up stealthily. Would you find 4x4 capability useful or desirable. What engine. What type of door at the rear, any doors in the middle. What seating for the front, full electric control or basic. LWB or SWB. Headlamps, Halogen are very poor Original fit LED very much better. Pop Top, Roof Tent or internal arrangements lay out and so on? Then are you very handy with DIY or have a professional do the work and so on. Cooking arrangements, if your wife is very big on cooking its either big batteries and solar panels with full electric, gas, gas storage and loads of condensation on top of the items being cooked or boiled away, or Diesel Wallas type that does cooking and heating or Eberspacia type heating Windows what type? Where are you likely to be going with it , frequency, GB or and EU. Do have entertainment needs. A start anyway

I've not had any Ad-Blue problems and my 199bhp 146kw is "twin turbo" too, the dreaded words according to many but neither is at fault it is a specific engine that accounts for much of the problems but still people use those descriptions in vehicles to avoid.

Another ear perks up. What do I need to know about adblue. Urea based conditioner for DPF? Smells odd for sure. So 'ULEZ compliant' means adblue, I'm not particularly interested in that - I don't want to do cities. I think I am agnostic on that. Another complexity to add to the many though.

Neither have I congratulations to us both👍

No. Its an exhaust after treatment thst radically reduces NOx emissions. Nowt to do with the DPF.

They can be troublesome on the 6 especially, less so on the 6.1 although theyre still not immune from bother.

That aaid, a lot of it is operator error. Use fresh adblue that hasn't been sitting in sunlight on a garage forecourt, and (very importantly) only put in as much as the display instructs you to. Putting in more, particularly filling up the filler neck and brimming it, causes painful wallet woe. A susprising number ignore the handbook, ignore the instructions on the display, fill it to the brim and then wonder why it's gone all bobby on them.

Yes clogged DPF issues etc
Saying that I’ve had no issues with any of my vans.
The early T6 were pre adblue and a great bulletproof engine carried in from the 5.1
My advice would just do your due diligence and go with your gut I’m now on my 3rd transporter with 3 different engine outputs and have all been incredibly reliable hence why I’m a fan.
If you sat here and read all the horror stories some unfortunate folk have had you would never buy one.
Who comes online saying how great there vans have been they are usually looking for answers to problems
