Are you new to the VW T6 scene or have you had other VW campers in the past.
I started my VW camper journey in 1977 (yes I am an old git) with a 1966 split screen. My VW camper journey went like this.
3 x split screens
1 x bay window
1x T25
3 x T4
Then went on to bigger stuff American and A class motorhome.
But later this year getting a back into the VW With a T6 which is why I am on here. 👍

I was new to the Transporter scene when I got my 6.1

I'd had VW cars before, but it hadn't ended well so never went back to them. However, with the mid size van it really comes down to the Transit or the Transporter, and the latter is the most popular as a camper so gave me the widest choice of vehicles. So I'm here by commercial default rather than any particular love for the brand.

New as of my T6.1 and I adore it. I’ve had other VWs in the past (most notably a Corrado VR6).

For logistics of parking at home I needed a van that could be my daily driver and despite the “VW tax” no other medium van was considered. I wanted to buy into the community as much as anything else.

Just to add, the T6/6.1 (tailgate) rear end is just 😍!

I got my first (T6) in 2019 and cannot imagine being without a ‘van’ now.

SWMBO and I are a few years away from retirement and the van is part of our future plans (now and when retired) for impromptu weekends away and touring holidays.

We’re just home from our first two nights away in the van with a mini list of enhancements! I see it evolving as we go along. The goal is minimal set up time with a full width bed! I wouldn’t rule out a low roof MWB Crafter at some point but the T6 is so versatile and can go anywhere a car can. Whatever the set up there is always a compromise.

Last 12 years been VW household only
Ran cars along side vans for my business
Caddy
Golf R mk7
Scirocco R
T6 Euro 6
Early T6 Euro 5
Current vehicles 6.1 Sportline and Mk8 Golf R
Other vehicle in the business is the ID Buzz cargo🫣

I'm tryin to steer the youngest towards a caddy but he can't find anything within his budget. Haven't told the wife that caddy's are a gateway drug to the hard stuff...
Loved my caddy had it 10 years never failed a mot had to have a new DMF fitted around the 70k mark but apart from that was faultless.
Was the older 2.0 6 speed model still going now sold that in 2018 with 120k on the clock

Lots of VWs in our family

Golf Cabrio - went out to by a sensible car when our youngest (of 4) was born in 2005 and came home with a 4 seater...
T25 - Petrol engine blew up on M3 and was replaced with an Impreza WRX engine :D - sold to buy 6 berth motorhome
T4 Kombi
EOS 2.0
Up GTI - genuinely one of the most fun cars I've owned to drive
T6 Caravelle - sold to buy BMW 3 Series Touring
T5 Shuttle - traded in for
T6 4Motion Caravelle Exec - Written off
T6 Caravelle exec - 3 days in to ownership

Lots of motorbikes and various other cars that took my fancy, but it seems we always come back to BMW & VW

First bay window (Savannah Beige tintop) in 1984.
1959 rhd 11 window Devon in 1986, went round Europe in that.
A Mars Red Mk I 8V Gti, an Elm Green Mk II 16V Gti, 3 series BMWs, including an E30 M3 EVO II and an Audi Quattro.
Since then I've always had a bay window, numerous early bays, 1 crossover bay, and more recently a 1967 Squareback which was sold to fund a 996.
Currently have a Sept 1967 deluxe bay (that was over 30 years in a Colorado junkyard) to compliment the Sportline.
