I have absolutely no idea ... even to be able to title this thread appropriately :laugh:

So. I'm looking in my engine bay doing some novice's OCD checks on Coolant and Oil and having a general look around to for any sign of leaks, drips of anything, loose jubilee clips etc .... and against the backdrop of the clean newness of everything, I see this very rusty rotten looking component as per pic.

Does anyone know what it is and if it should actually look so old and rusty after 2,000 miles !!!?

Mine is the same, its a small casting on the end of the high pressure fuel pump.

It must be very iron rich for some reason.

Probably acting like a sacrificial anode which is why its rusting so quickly..

Thanks guys, feel very reassured about that now

@Loz ..... I see from your pic you've had a bit of a makeover
