Noob needing advice on 1st van - help encouraged!!!

Im am terribly selfish going to the Hospital in my T6.

In the future I'll walk the 60 mile round trip, making sure to wave my walking stick (the one I need in order to walk more than a short distance) at anyone I encounter parking their vehicle in a parking bay. That keeps my blue badge free to use as a Shuriken to launch at throats of anyone else in a van.

Notwithstanding the generalisations and stereotyping, a LWB is 400mm/16inches longer than a SWB and exactly the same width, so how can parking in a hospital bay be deemed “selfish”? It may protrude slightly at one end or the other, depending on the length of the bay, but hardly cause for a public enquiry. Then you have a pop at Campervans and Scaffolders. You failed to mention the BMW & Audi drivers that park over 2 bays, or the people without kids who park in the mother and toddler places. Non of which is remotely related to the LWB van format.
You are correct in that some BMW and Audi Drivers frequently occupy twin spaces and some other polished cars also often a deliberate ploy as the centre of the vehicle is plum on the centre line. Many hospital places are quite cramped very tight and short possibly most. Opposing places quite close to the opposite sides places most LWB Vehicles project well over making negotiation difficult for other users.

Not having a pop at camper vans or builders just noting observations as seen. I usually wait while shopping is being done and so have the privilege of watching peoples antics at parking and while people drive around those sites and the two groups I referred to have a tendency of doing exactly as I have mentioned, that is not a pop it is an observational fact at all the supermarkets that I have visited. Most other trades people do their utmost to park within the lines even if in longer wheel bases as do many other van users. I could also say that I have seen a builder vans occupants throw out of the window all the packaging of the lunches just as they drove off but I have only seen that happen twice so would not count it as typical. So do I receive your praise for that.

You should use your motorcycle its big enough for the biggest land creature after all

If it fits OK then that is fine I was talking about LWB in particular, oh yours is LWB

My worry is about the low likelihood of the bike being there upon my return, which really would leave me with a long walk!

Thread resuscitation!

I’ve been searching hard…very nearly found a van on here but turns out the deal was indeed ‘too good to be true’ and lots of finance issues that the seller couldn’t resolve.

Why is it so hard to find a twin slider LWB? Literally none that either aren’t a CXEB engines ticking time bomb or 2023 onwards for mega money.

I’ve put out loads of wanted ads but alas, nada!

I’ve got £40kish to spend and all I really want is a Kombi + a fortywinks + pop top. Feels very achievable - SWB would be easy and well within budget for an absolute beauty!

Starting to lose patience, feel like abandoning the whole idea, selling my car and ploughing the cash into a 911 Turbo instead and just putting up a tent!

Hahaha

I’m starting to crack and tried to convince myself it doesn’t matter…but I think it will make a big difference.

I’ve got all winter….but I want one NOW!
I looked for months. Was always something missing from the spec, mostly the aircon.

I’ve got 3 kids in the back of mine and we manage fine with a single slider.
I agree. Personally I’d prefer a single slider where kids are involved. You only have one exit to supervise and they aren’t getting out into traffic on the road side. I had a twin slider PV as a work van and it was perfect for the job. But for people carrying I prefer the single.
Just my 2 penneth

I always park in the mother and toddler spaces, they didn’t exist when my kids were small so it’s back payment.
Thinking about signing up to Mumsnet so I can’t bitch about myself.
