Do you like the next model transporter, as in the T7
I have had VW vans since the seventies, split screens, bay window, T25, T4 and then I went bigger (American) but every model I had I said I don’t like the newer model but they grew on me so I moved on and have loved every one to be honest.
With the T7 now I see a lot of folks saying no way would I have one, but I must admit they do look good lowered, body mods etc.
I never used to like the T5/ T6 but I am craving for a T6 now and can’t wait to sell my motorhome and get back into the VW fold.
I know a lot of folk outgrow their T6 and want more space like a motorhome with kids etc and all the stuff you have to carry about and with its own shower/ toilet etc. life moves on.
What’s your view

BTW,
I assume you mean the rebaged Turkish Ford one. Does now VW call it officially T7 or is it more a UK aficionados' thingy?

And just to answer you, yes, I may buy one if I live in good health long enough to need another van , but I would just buy the original Ford in case. Not going directly for it, though, would be more down the list. Aestetically it lacks the simple elegance of the T4/5/6 IMO. Maybe it's for the ones that like to heavily tune it. Mechanically seems it has nothing to write home about, but I suspect that the era of the good Diesels is at the end.
I will watch with interest how this develops though.

Its me!

The T7 is the Multivam, the Ford based thing is Transporter, and the sooner police start pistol whipping people for getting them confused the better!
True.
BTW, the Multivan T7, I clearly remember when I inquired about one a the same dealer where I then bought the T6.1, the salesman was looking to the tip of his feet and blabbing things like , yeah, but then you better buy a Passat...
That was when there was no Ford on the horizon.
Not very convincing I must say.

Its a fanboi thing.

VW have most pointedly avoided giving it a T designation, partly because they're not making it, and partly because if it turns out to be a liability they can distance the model from the T8 in years ahead and trumpet how its now made by VW again, blah blah.

You might not be far from reality.
I have already heard about a VW T8 in Germany. Brauerei talk but...it may come earlier than we think.

I could be being cynical, but I do think they've done it so they can distance themselves rrom it in the future if necessary.

The thing about being a cynic is how often life ends up proving me to be right.

If VW survives at all in its present form. It may well go the way Volvo went. Or we get only a DutscheStar in its place. That would be a tragedy for Germany. Not that they do not deserve it, they went for it and dragged all EU with them. But maybe the craziness wave is on the way out. I hope so at least.

My van is a work van all week and a very basic day van at weekends and for longer journeys (much prefer driving the van) so not a camper. So if I were to change-and I've no intention of doing so at the moment, I would definitely be looking at the multivan.

Well, we already have Deutsches Auto Made In 🦃...the Made in (West) Germany is sadly gone...😢
