Hi everyone.
Not received my T6 just yet though i was supposed to have had it yesterday. Not new but a 16 plate. Finance company wouldnt release the money to VW because previous owner still owe some money which is on direct debit for next week. Gutted as was really looking forward to playing with it today. My intention is to turn it in to a campervan over time but because i couldnt wait to have one, i had to fork out 5k negative equity on my previous car which was a Mazda 6 so going to be an ongoing project for the time being. Anyway, my first job is to remove the bulkhead and oil stained ply panelling which was going to be today. My question is, can it be relined and carpeted before all the electrical work has to be done. Useless with electrics so will be taking it to an auto electrician.
Cheers for any info in advance.

Hi @Proberts Welcome to the forum. Make sure to get some pictures up when you get your van. As long as the rear panels are removable then you won't have a problem running the electrics in after the van has been carpeted.

Thanks very much Deaky. Thats good to know i can get that done before the electrics. Will post photos on here going through the different stages, but its going to be a bit at a time at moment. Been reading through the forums and sounds like i need a money tree with all the mods and extras.

Hi Proberts, i bought my T6 in January this year. And have Sound deadened it, Thermal lined it and then Carpeted it. In between i have done various Electric modifications. Like, Leisure Battery, Dc to Dc charger etc.. I thought i had finished the electrical side of things, and have used hidden clips to fix the new Carpeted Ply panels. I have now had to remove the Two side panels at the back as i have fitted a Compact Bluetooth Marine Stereo in the back with new speakers, so when i lie in bed i can listen to the Radio or what's on my phone via Bluetooth etc... So try to plan ahead, as i had to order more hidden clips due to a few breaking when i removed the panels!

As above, plan ahead. It will be a lot easier if you work out what electrics you want to put in, and then put the wires in place before you line and carpet it. Panels can be removed, but it’s a pain, and you run the risk of breaking clips etc.

Pete

Thanks very much Hoggle and Pete. As yet, unsure what i will be putting in there as this will be an ongoing project maybe over a twelve month or so. Will definitely be a cooker, usb sockets, 240 v, fridge, just the usual things but i know i will be desperate to remove the bulkhead and the badly stained ply panels that are in there at moment. If i go ahead carpet it and sound proof with insulation, is it possible to change the clips if they break without removing the carpet on the panels ? If money allows to get the electrics and carpeting done together, roughly how much would an auto electrician charge to do whats needed ? I know its only a ball park figure.
Andrew.
