Hello. Not totally new to transporters as I had a 1.9 T5 van which I sold then regretted selling. Have now bought a T6 Dec 15. Log book says T28 S-Line TDI BMT. 62KW. Van/side windows. Complete with wheel chair lift in back and 2 rail mounted seats one behind the other behind drivers seat. Rear is properly panelled out with air con vents in roof. Van came from Copart Chester, fairly heavy front end hit high up not much plastic left, has bounced engine back and broken plate on top of engine mount on drivers side and wrecked front mount. Water rad and intercooler are both OK. Plastic? rocker cover has shattered, a lot of bits removed to get it off. Will add some pictures soon. Need to find someone breaking a late T6 with no front end damage. Are any bits carried over from earlier transporters? Intention is to convert into a day van with 5 or 6 seats and room for bikes and canoes. Team Black this one with very dark tint on side windows, will add some shiny bits at some point but need to get it up and running first.
Regards Barry

hi. When you say "what have I got", sounds like you know you're stuff about the accident damage. If you're trying to decode the log book then I think you've got a base model van. T28 is your payload, 2.8tonnes (I think they start at t28 and go to t32 (3.2tonnes)). S-line is the spec/ trim of the van "Startline" (startline is base spec, then add 'trendline' and 'highline'). BMT is bluemotion (which I think they all are). 62kw is engine power and I think equates to 84bhp on 2015 van (84bhp is base, then 104bhp, then 140bhp and 180 I think top spec for 2015).

Others will correct if I've got anything wrong..... hope that helps, sounds like you've got some work on your hands!!!

Get some piccies up when you can

What a brilliant project, most start with a perfectly useable van then rip it apart and put it together again. Sounds like you have saved some time by missing out the first stage!.
Please post pictures as you go through each phase of straightening it out, sounds great.

carlg thanks for the heads up on partshark they have a T6 that they are stripping at the moment so have put an enquiry into them.

WP_20170323_10_11_37_Pro.jpg Bit of an update 1st picture is as the van arrived. I have removed bonnet, rads, rocker cover and lots of broken plastic. I managed to find a rocker cover on E-bay other parts so far have come from TPS. Old rocker cover was removed which meant taking most of the top part of the engine apart including removing injectors, now all back together. Front and R/H engine mounts have been replaced plus plate on top of L/H engine mount. Slam panel / rad support has been sat in place to see what needs doing to line everything up, O/S inner wing will be replaced. I have bought a complete air filter box, comes complete with a filter, very generous of VW!!! Parts are pretty eye watering and due to the newness of the van not much is coming through secondhand. Next job time permitting is to connect up the rads, turn the engine over and then try for a start. Van has got air con and 2 seats one behind the other in the back mounted on rails. Seats will be coming out to put a bench in the back. Van has also got a wheel chair lift in the back which will be coming out to be sold. Lots to do and no time but will get there. Cheers Baz WP_20170323_10_11_43_Pro.jpg WP_20170323_10_11_57_Pro.jpg WP_20170327_17_25_04_Pro.jpg WP_20170415_14_33_41_Pro.jpg WP_20170428_12_05_18_Pro.jpg WP_20170428_12_05_35_Pro.jpg WP_20170428_12_05_52_Pro.jpg

Hi @BAZT6, I'd consider putting it on a measuring system such as a P188 Blackhawk to check it didn't tweak the drivers chassis leg up, or down when it broke the engine mounts, that way you will save yourself any time later, as any tweaks to get back to OE spec will be straight forward at the moment due to its state of undress..

If you've got seats on rails have you got a Caravelle? Or has it had the floor converted? What's on the V5?

Sorry DaveyB I missed this question, the van is listed as disabled on the V5. It has got a chair lift in the back door which will be coming out and a pair of rails on the offside in the back with a pair of nice single seats mounted on the rails. There is additional strapping down straps for holding wheel chairs in place. I have got a 3 seater bench seat from on here which I will put in with the seat belts that come with it. I expect I will have to get the classification changed on the logbook but need to finish the front end first.
Cheers Baz

Classification of disabled will need changing to normal but that is taxation class..

Bit of an update, have had some luck with getting parts for the van at the right price. Headlights from Ginger, rear bench seat from Pats, bonnet and various front end trim parts from Fish. Front bumper from Ebay, London address but tracked via Poland, is Ok though. Getting to know most of the guys in Canterbury TPS as well. Cam belt has been changed as it had a lump out of it from accident. Built the front end back over the last couple of days, turned key and it runs, so reassuring when that happens. Have noticed that rear engine mount has broken, which will mean another trip to TPS. Rear bench seat has been fitted with genuine brackets that came with it. New front bumper support fitted, old one was a bit wonky. Jobs to do inner wing repair, air bags, seat belts and some paint. No mad rush and fitting it in around every thing else. Bits do turn up just have to be patient, this forum has been very good for this project.

Cheers Baz
