Newbie Question About Wheel Bolts

I apologise again if this is a really stupid question that even Baldrick would not have asked.

Our T6 has steel wheels and I have seen a good deal on a set of original alloys, My question is will I need to buy different wheel bolts to the ones that are on the steel wheels?

If they are VW alloys then your bolts will fit, if the wheels are aftermarket then you may (probably) need to change them

If you post up the actual alloys you’re after you may get a wheel guru giving you a definitive answer.
For future posts you may find it helpful if you add the subject your question relates to in the title for example “embarrassing newbie wheel question” in this instance it may intrigue the wheel minded users to your post and hopefully attracting the answer you’re after.

Not a silly question.

edit: and I have edited your topic title.

Thats a good one,

in the old day steel and alloy bolts were always different,

The Alloy bolts has a shallower washer angle to spread the load over a wider area due to the softer metal of the alloy wheel.

see a few horror stories of boy racers fitting 3rd party alloys with steel wheel bolts and over tightening them . . . . to then have a wheel fall off at the first round about.

Though it seems that the OEM alloy bolts are Radius-ed with a rotating washer. . . . but in not sure TBH.

Might be best to get a "set" of original VW OEM alloy locking wheel bolts - 4 in a set.

then compare your existing bolts with one of the alloy spec bolts and see if the radius/washer/angle etc etc etc are the same.

this is the 4 left overs from the original alloys and the locking kit. . . .

these are the original 4 bolts that have been removed . . . . .
