1. Definitely get one.
2. Choose cheap or expensive versions of the same thing, up to you. Everyone has their preferences.
3. Install it yourself, or find someone recommended to do it. A professional is someone who charges you for the service - they may or may not be any good.
4. Sit back and enjoy a brew in your cosy van whilst looking at the frosty morning outside.
You might need to be a bit more specific on your question to get a useful answer though…

I'm in Aviemore just now, and it's meant to get down to -6 °C tonight.
So If you are planning trips like I do, then i would say it is definitely worth the investment.
And I have an Ebersbacher D2 which I fitted myself.
But if your not keen on doing it yourself, there should be someone close to you that would fit it for you.

Thank youI've no experience of a Planar, so couldn't comment.
But I do know the Ebersbacher is a great heater.

Really?! It’s just humour and having a bit of fun. Spend some time looking around the forum and you will see it’s pretty normal here, but all done in a lighthearted, non-personal manner. If that’s not for you then it might be better to look elsewhere. That would be a shame though as this is an awesome forum with many fantastic contributors, giving outstanding advice (and some fun banter!). The more specific you can be with your questions the better the answer you will get. Left vague and you will get the full gambit of answers and be none the wiser.
Anyhow, back to your questions. The investment will depend on your intended use - will you be out in winter, are you sleeping in the van, what ratio is the cost of the heater to the rest of the van, is it a camper etc?
The best heater will depend to a large degree on your intended use, budget, required features etc.
So, a big budget, fancy features, in an expensive camper, for use in winter then go top end such as Ebersbacher.
Small budget, cheaper conversion, no sleeping in the van then maybe consider a cheaper Chinese heater.
A day van for summer use only then maybe no heater at all.
I have a 2kw Planar that was fitted to my camper when I bought it. I use the van (and sleep in it) year round so for me it is an essential item. It’s very effective but the fan makes a bit of noise and there is a gentle ticking from the fuel pump. This is fine but I’ve not experienced others so don’t know if it’s par for the course. Planar have a good rep and seem better value than Ebersbacher etc and have a good range of features such as app controlled. They are also British. Probably a good middle ground unless you have a particularly large or small budget.

I fitted a cheap Chinese diesel heater just after Christmas it cost £97 from eBay and with the extras that I fitted the total cost was about £200, it came with remote control and works very well.
By the way I’m a retired gas and oil heating engineer so I knew what I was doing.
