Just got my first Transporter T6 Highline after 9 years with a Vauxhall Vivaro . Just cannot believe the difference should have got one years ago. The plan is to use for work for the next 18 months and then a possible conversion to day van so will be watching closely for any information and pointers in the right direction. I will start off with a question has anyone had water getting in the repeater indicator the drivers side, I have taken it off and dried it out but it gets wet in side every time it rains cannot see any damage to it, as the vans only 10 months old I assume it would be covered by the warranty. Would be grateful for any replies. kev b

In what way is it better (and dont say every lol) ???

Welcome by the way

Welcome, let's see some snaps. We all love a shiny van on here.

Welcome, can't help with the water issue, but look forward to seeing your van.

Thanks for the welcome reply , I will take some photos over the week end and with the help of my son will post them when he is back from his holiday. Also contacted the dealer where I purchased the van from and they said that the repeater is covered and that they will send one out to me free of charge , I said I would send the old one back to them but they did not want it back so will keep it .

Hi .. I currently own a T5 T30 but due to issues with the EGR valve going twice within 2 years and the age of the van I'm looking to get a new T6, albeit hesitantly. The T5 is my first van and I loved it until all the issues started but am now confused as to what to go for in T6 TSI or TDI, given all the up coming charges for Diesel. Also, I know a TSI doesn't hold the residual value as much as TDI but I am not looking to sell on for sometime if ever as would like to convert to camper in a few years. If anyone has any experience with either (LWB) it would be great to chat. Lastly, looking at the forum for the T6 it seems that they could be prone to more issues than the T5 - so even more unsure of what to do now. Thanks for your time and hope to hear from anyone..

I have had zero issues with the T6 (1year-18kmiles); in that time with my T5 I had had loads of issues.
So I wouldn't hesitate recommending it.
Petrol v Diesel,
If I was doing short journeys (cold engine), and low milage (mpg not so important); then maybe Petrol
If it was average miles with some larger journeys; then probably a 2wd, 150bhp Diesel. I am guessing but you are probably looking at 43mpg v 23mpg........... but that is a guess. It will be interesting to see how people get on with the TSi.
But on 25k miles per year that would equate to (@ average £1.15/l=£5.25/galon=£3000/year(diesel); £5700/year(petrol) over 5 years ownership = over £13,ooo extra in fuel..... Very Ball Park figures.
Higher resale of Diesel = Higher initial cost of diesel
If you need 1 egr valve and 1 dpf valve in that time cost to me would be zero with my 5 year warrantee. :)
If you need loads of egr valves ;dpf valves ;ad-blue valves; again cost to me = £zero, a pain in the ass but still zero
I honestly think these things are now a lot more reliable than they were with the T5, but time, and this forum will tell.

Still a no Brainer to me, if you take the extra warrantee Diesel all the way at this moment; even at 18k miles per year that would still be £9.5k saving over 5 years

When the T7 comes with hybrid technology;
or a 300-400miles range on battery only;
or even Fuel cell technology........... Then good bye Diesel for ever, until then.....
